New domains set new record

TLD Investors, citing data from NameBio, summarized the results of transactions with domains in new gTLDs on the secondary market in September. The total amount reached $871,000, a record for new domain extensions. By comparison, the previous month’s total transaction value for new gTLDs stood at $699,000.

The .XYZ domain made the most significant contribution to this record, with Super.xyz selling for $287,607 and setting a record for the largest transaction ever for this domain extension. In total, the .XYZ domain “delegated” four of its domains to the top five transactions in September, with Intelligence.xyz selling for $150,000, Hyperlink.xyz for $30,000, and Code.xyz for $25,509. Only Purpose.app managed to wedge itself between them: its sale for $87,550 became the third-largest transaction among new gTLDs in September.
