Amazon launches three new gTLDs

On September 25, Amazon at last opened registration in its three new generic top-level domains: .FAST, .TALK and .YOU. This statement just cannot do without “at last” because .TALK and .YOU were delegated to the company at the first stage of the ICANN program for new gTLDs way back in the spring of 2016, and .FAST even earlier – in December 2015. So, it took the company, which has immense financial resources, almost a decade to launch three new domains.

So far, the domain areas offer early access. This period will last to October 5 and follows the Dutch auction method, starting with the maximally high price for the domain names on the first day and then it decreases daily. In reporting this news, the Domain Name Wire mentions the prices indicated on the website of the 101domain major registrar. On the first day, the annual registration cost for a name in any of the three abovementioned zones was $11,999. On the fifth day, it is to go down to $2,049, and on the last day of the early access period it will be $199. The period of generally available registration will begin on October 6, with domain names costing from $30 to $54 per year, depending on the gTLD.

In the estimate of the domain market experts, the new gTLD .YOU looks most promising and opens plenty of opportunities for registering domain hacks – domain names that use both sides of the dot to create a phrase. Obviously, the catchiest domain names such as love.you or miss.you will go for premium prices amounting to tens of thousand dollars per year.
