Famous domain investor James Booth announced another impressive deal on X (formerly Twitter): the sale of Divinity.com. Generic .COM domains comprised of common English words are widely regarded as the most valuable digital assets in the domain industry, and almost every high-profile sale of this kind attracts widespread attention. The sale of Divinity.com has been no exception.
According to Domain Gang, the domain was originally registered in 1996. Booth acquired it around a year ago, though the purchase price remains undisclosed. The name was listed on the Atom marketplace for $895,000, but was ultimately sold for $795,000 to an as-yet-unnamed buyer, a $100,000 discount on the asking price. The transaction ranks among the ten biggest publicly disclosed domain sales of the year so far.
The word divinity is synonymous to “godliness,” or “theology,” and it remains to be seen how the new owner will use the name.
