ICANN has updated statistics on leading registrars of the .COM top-level domain. Processing this data is a time-consuming process, with the current publication covering December 2024. A number of companies have considerably increased the number of new registrations in the domain zone on the previous month. First of all, this is explained by active marketing efforts of .COM registry Verisign, which is worried by the dwindling number of registrations.
Nevertheless, GoDaddy, the largest registrar, is not faring very well. The number of new .COM domains registered via the company totaled 583,099, a marked decrease as compared to 630,865 on December 2023. This is the first case in the past two years when GoDaddy has registered fewer than 600,000 .COM domains in one month.
Speaking of the total number of domain names, managed by any specific registrar, GoDaddy remains an undisputed leader, according to Domain Name Wire. The company manages 53,374,853 registrations and is followed by Newfold Digital with 11,174,786 domain names and Tucows with 10,711,013 domains.
