Prudential Financial, a major financial and investment business, has asked ICANN to terminate its contract to manage .PRAMERICA. Interestingly, contrary to the name, the company had planned to use the domain for its Indian business. However, the plans never materialized, as .PRAMERICA has never had a registered domain in the eight years since it was delegated.
At the same time, according to Domain Incite, Prudential Financial, unlike many other companies, is trying to develop its dot-brands. In addition to .PRAMERICA, the company manages two other gTLDs, .PRU and .PRUDENTIAL, both of them in active use, with corporate sites registered under them. It is unclear why this did not happen with .PRAMERICA.
