DN Journal has released its latest chart of significant domain transactions, made publicly accessible. This chart covers the period from November 24 through December 8 and represents the penultimate issue for this year. The transactions recorded during these two weeks do not secure high positions in the annual chart; the largest was the sale of Odyssey.ai for $85,000. Nonetheless, this particular chart holds historical significance: 15 of the top 20 largest transactions involved the .AI TLD, the country code top level domain of Anguilla.
As noted by Ron Jackson, the chart's compiler, in over 20 years of publication, he has often encountered instances where 15 of the 20 largest transactions involved the same domain zone. However, these instances have always been within the generic .COM top level domain. The occurrence of 15 out of the top 20 transactions involving a different domain is unprecedented. Additionally noteworthy is that of the remaining five transactions, two involve country domains from Spain and Italy – Lentillas.es (€38,000) and Rugs.it (€29,500). Two others involve names in the new generic top level domain .XYZ – Operator.xyz ($40,000) and Backpack.xyz ($34,888). Meanwhile, the most popular .COM domain was represented by only one in the top twenty: Qamar.com, which changed ownership for $50,000.
