Anguilla Government Signs Agreement with Identity Digital

The Anguilla Government and Identity Digital have announced a partnership agreement. The goal, as stated in a joint statement, is to “build a world-class registry management program that prioritizes quality domains and instills trust in .AI domain names for years to come.” The statement does not provide details, but it is logical to assume that Identity Digital will become the technical operator of .AI.

The move seems to be a win-win for both parties. As Domain Incite notes when reporting this news, Anguilla’s national domain is currently managed by a small local company, DataHaven.Net, whose website looks “that gives off all the vibes of being a one-man show and perhaps a little bit slapdash.” And the list of registrars working with domains in the .AI zone includes only 40 companies. Of course, Identity Digital, with its experience in managing a huge portfolio of new generic top-level domains, developed infrastructure and established relationships with hundreds of registrars, is able to take .AI to a new level.

On the other hand, the cooperation will undoubtedly benefit the company itself. Recent years have made the national domain of Anguilla one of the most popular in the world due to the popularity of AI technologies. Back in mid-2022, the number of registrations in it was about 150,000, and now it has exceeded half a million and continues to grow rapidly. And managing such a domain zone is an obvious bargaining chip. Commenting on the agreement, representatives of Identity Digital noted that the national domain is currently the source of a fifth of all revenues coming into the budget of Anguilla, and assured that they will make every effort to increase these revenues.
