The registry of the national domain of Slovakia .SK has announced plans to organize auctions of premium domain names. The auctions will be held every two months, starting in October. All 36 one-letter domain names are planned to be put up for auction, as well as two-letter names that match the country designations adopted by the International Standardization Organization (ISO) - and, accordingly, with the designations of their national domains. Also, two-letter third-level names of the types .com.sk and .net.sk will be put up for auction. The Domain Incite, reporting this news, notes that a total of 277 domain names previously reserved for the registry itself will be available for auction. It is noteworthy that sk.sk is not among the two-letter domains.
A priority phase of the auction for copyright holders will be held from October 1 to 14. For 300 euros, they can apply for a particular domain name. If there are no other contenders among the copyright holders, the right to manage the domain will cost 3,000 euros. If competitors appear, then everything will be decided by an auction with the participation of all interested parties.
And from October 15, an open auction will be held for a week for everyone - in the .SK domain, there are no restrictions that would prevent foreign individuals or legal entities from acquiring domain names. Domains are divided into three groups, the starting price for which is 1,000, 1,500 or 2,000 euros.
It should be added that the registry of the national domain of Slovakia .SK is the British company CentralNic. Currently, more than 471,000 domain names are registered in the domain zone.
