Rocket.com Changed Hands

Domain Investing reported on the conclusion of an extremely large deal. Rocket.com has changed hands. This is one of the oldest (registered back in November 1991) domain names - and, many say, one of the most valuable. For many years, it was owned by Aerojet-General Corporation. In 2023, it was acquired by L3Harris Technologies, Inc., and for some time the domain was used to redirect to the official L3Harris website.

The broker for the deal was Hilco Digital Assets. Its managing director Andrew Miller confirmed the deal to Domain Investing, but declined to name its amount, citing non-disclosure obligations. He only noted that it was a win-win deal - that is, equally beneficial for both the buyer and the seller. Market experts say the possible target is $10 million. And the same Domain Investing even suggests that we are talking about one of the largest deals in the history of the domain industry.

The buyer's details for Rocket.com are hidden in the Whois record by privacy settings. It remains to be hoped that the domain was acquired by a public company: in this case, the purchase will be reflected in the report filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and the amount will become public before the end of the year. For now, we can only guess, but the scope for guesswork is too wide - from the largest aerospace companies and daring startups in this area that managed to attract considerable financing, to business giants that have nothing to do with space, but are interested in a big name - for example, one of the largest US companies in the mortgage lending field, Rocket Mortgage.
