RDRS Work Results in June Summed Up

ICANN published information about the operation of the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS) in June of this year. This service is designed to disclose information at the request of individuals and legal entities that have a legitimate interest in domain name registrant data that is hidden by privacy settings. RDRS is an ICANN project that launched last December and is undergoing a two-year testing period.

According to the Domain Incite, in June the service received 170 requests for disclosure of registrant data - 17 more than in May. The share of satisfied requests also increased slightly: it amounted to 20.88% of the total number compared to 20.29% a month earlier. In addition, the average time it took RDRS to satisfy a request decreased quite significantly - from 11.34 days to 6.59 days. You can also add that during June the registrar OwnRegistrar refused to participate in the project. However, the number of domain names under its management is too small to have any noticeable impact on the overall statistics of the service. Today the project is supported by 90 registrars, managing 59% of all domain names registered in the world.
