Five New gTLDs Launch Dates Announced

Internet Naming Co has announced the launch dates of five new gTLDs: .DIY, .FOOD, .LIFESTYLE, .LIVING, and .VANA. The priority registration period for copyright holders will open in all domain zones on January 24. Public registration will begin on March 6th. It will be preceded by two more special periods. The first one - the early access period - has long been practiced by many registries. During the week, those interested will be able to register the most promising domain names at increased prices, which, however, will decrease every day.

But the second period, lasting only one day, is an innovation from Internet Naming Co. This is called the “Customer Loyalty Period” and will immediately precede the Early Access period. According to the INCO CEO Shayan Rostam, quoted by the Domain Incite, in this way the registry wants to recognize its existing and most loyal customers, giving them the right to be the first to register their desired domain names. True, the registration price will be the same as on the first day of the early access period - as high as possible.

All five domains were acquired by Internet Naming Co last year from Lifestyle Domain Holdings and will be open to the public. The potential purpose of .FOOD, .LIFESTYLE and .LIVING does not raise any particular questions. DIY stands for “do it yourself”, and the domain will obviously be aimed at handymen. As for .VANA, it is known that the domain will be somehow connected with blockchain technologies, but the registry has not yet disclosed any details.
