The NPO Nominet, which manages the UK country code .UK, announced on its official website that it has become the technical operator of six Microsoft branded domains. These domains are .AZURE, .BING, .HOTMAIL, .MICROSOFT, .WINDOWS and .XBOX. Microsoft offers users a huge number of online services and applications and actively uses its branded domains for this. “We are delighted to be named Registry Services Provider for Microsoft’s brand TLD portfolio. With more than a quarter of a century experience running .UK we are pleased to offer our services to a growing number of partners worldwide,” Eleanor Bradley, Managing Director of Registry and Social Impact at Nominet, commented on the event.
This brings the number of generic top-level domains technically operated by Nominet to 74. Also a few days earlier, it became the Emergency Back-End Registry Operator (EBERO) of the new generic top-level domain .DESI after its initial Desi Networks registry admitted its insolvency and petitioned ICANN to terminate the contract.
