Lifestyle Domain Holdings continues to divest its domain assets. This company was part of the Scripps Networks broadcast network, which later became part of Warner Bros Discovery. A few days earlier, it was reported that the registry had notified ICANN org that it was dropping its .CITYEATS and .FRONTDOOR branded domains. Now, according to the Domain Name Wire, the company has sold the rights to manage five more domain zones - .DIY, .FOOD, .LIFESTYLE, .LIVING and .VANA.
The buyer was the Internet Naming Company. It is, in a sense, the “heritor” of the Uniregistry (Uni) registry, which has almost completely left the domain business. After this purchase, the number of domain zones managed by the Internet Naming Company grew to almost two dozen. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed, but from the point of view of the business as such, it should be recognized as successful. As a rule, the rights to manage new generic top-level domains are put up for sale in a situation where the seller has not been very successful in developing the domain zone. In this case, along with the domain itself, the buyer receives a “load” and a negative story - inflated registration prices, marketing errors, a low number of registered names, an untrustworthy reputation, etc. The purchase of .DIY, .FOOD, .LIFESTYLE, .LIVING and .VANA domains is completely free from such a "legacy" - none of them have ever been launched, and the Internet Naming Company registry can literally start from scratch.
