The company offers domain name registration, hosting and technical support for a website created on a domain for a period of ... 100 years. An impeccably politically correct video has already been released to promote the project, which shows people of all ages, races and genders in the happiest and most important moments of their lives.
The cost of the service is more than an impressive $38,000, and it is not hard to guess that domain investors took the news rather skeptically. They note that the maximum term for domain registration offered today is 10 years, and even this period in the current political and economic instability seems to many to be too long. With all due respect to WordPress, it is unlikely that this service, like any other company in the world, can absolutely guarantee that it will be able to fulfill its obligations in 100 years. Well-known domain investor Elliot Silver notes on his blog that he simply won't believe anyone who offers him a century-old domain name registration.
