The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued patent number 11,736,510 to Disney Enterprises. It protects Disney-developed technology that is designed to help large businesses always know what domain names they own. Many large companies and government agencies own a large number of domain names: Disney itself has, for example, the domains disney.com, disneyland.com, espn.com, marvel.com and many dozens of others. Domains often become company assets as a result of mergers and acquisitions. Then there is a restructuring of assets, rebranding, etc. As a result, it is not at all rare that no one in the company simply knows that it has this or that domain name at its disposal. And when the domain registration expires, the company loses an asset, the value of which can be tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.
According to Domain Name Wire, Disney Enterprises' proprietary technology uses data such as WHOIS records, IP addresses, metadata, and site content information to determine the owner of a domain name. In addition, the technology also allows you to set security rules for all domains at the disposal of the company. This may be the use of security screens, mandatory authentication, requirements for interactive content, etc.
