The registry of the new gTLD .ART has summed up the results of the first half of this year. They turned out to be very positive: the number of registrations as of June 30 is estimated at 244,407. This is a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. One of the reasons for the growth is the transition of many of the world's largest museums and cultural institutions to the use of domain names in the .ART zone for their websites.
Also, the registry reports a high level of registration renewal - 61% for standard domain names and immediately 82% for premium ones. During 6 months of 2023, 2533 premium names were registered in the domain, 24 of them are in the upper price segment, at a price of $5,000 to $10,000. These are, for example, the Sculpture.art, Imagine.art, Motion.art, Ultra.art and Mexican.art. At the same time, the average price for registering a premium domain name was $385. Premium domain names accounted for 64% of all registry revenue from registrations. The .ART Registry has repeatedly stressed in the past that not only ultra-premium domains generate stable income, but also premium names available at affordable prices for any registrants. By the way, the renewal price for all premium domain names is the same at $39 per year.
DN Journal, reporting this piece news, notes that registration of names in the .ART domain zone is now offered by more than 200 registrar companies around the world. The largest number of registrations are made through Namecheap, GoDaddy, Google, Tucows and Alibaba.
