Radix, which manages 10 new gTLDs, has provided an analysis of one of the most important statistics for new domain zones - the level of first domain name renewals. It is conventional to assess a domain zone's prospects based on how likely registrants are to renew their domains after the first term of their registration expires. In general, for new domains, according to Radix, this indicator in 2022 turned out to be quite low - only 18%. In addition, it has decreased compared to the values of 2020 and 2021 - 20% and 21%, respectively. However, the authors of the report explain the decrease by a general drop in interest in registering domain names, which followed a sharp rise during the pandemic.
However, the positions of domain zones managed by Radix look pretty good, notes DN Journal, reporting this news. 4 out of 10 registry domains made it into the top ten new gTLDs with the highest first renewal rates. These are .ONLINE, .STORE, .SITE and .TECH domains. In general, the level of first registration renewals in Radix domains increased by 45% compared to 2020. The .STORE looks especially distinguished. If in 2020 the number of first renewals here was 45,534, then in 2022 - 83,579, which gives an increase of 92%.
The .ONLINE and .STORE generated the largest first-time renewal revenue for Radix last year, with $4.5 million and $3.2 million, respectively. It should be noted that in all cases we are talking only about standard registrations - the level of renewal of registrations of premium domain names was not taken into account in the statistics.
