Sex.com Is For Sale

The Sex.com domain name is considered one of the most expensive in the world. In the public domain there is information about two transactions for its sale, and both times the domain changed owners for huge sums. In 2005 it was sold for $14 million and in 2010 for $13 million. These results remained record-breaking until the advent of the era of cryptocurrency and NFT projects. In 2019, the Voice.com domain was acquired for $30 million. And last year, Sex.com fell even lower on the list of the most expensive domain purchases of all time, surpassed by a deal to sell the NFTs.com domain name for $15 million. But soon the position in the top three may change: the Domain Name Wire reports that the owners of the Sex.com domain name put it up for sale again.

Applications opened yesterday and will last until January 31, the minimum amount for which a domain can be sold is $20 million. However, it will be enough for the buyer to pay 10 million at a time, for the rest of the amount the sellers are ready to provide an installment plan of up to 5 years. The future deal (if it takes place, of course) can hardly be considered a domain deal in its purest form: along with the domain name, the owners are also selling the resource itself with all its trademarks, social media accounts and user database. The nature of the resource hardly needs any explanation. According to sellers, more than 1 million unique users visit the site daily.
