An analysis of the use of Crypto and NFT keywords in domain names was presented by InterNetX

InterNetX has published an analysis on the use of the “NFT” and “Crypto” keywords in domain names (in the latter case, variations of this term were taken into account for different languages, including krypto, krypt, cripto and crypto). According to the company, between October 2019 and September 2022, the use of Crypto terms in domain names grew by 92.98%. The leader is North America, which accounts for 67.3% of all "crypto domains". This is followed by Europe - 22.3% and Asia - 7.1%. A more detailed geographic breakdown shows that these domain names are most often registered in California, New York and Florida in the US and within Greater London in the UK.

61.2% of all domains using Crypto terms are registered in the .COM domain zone. This is followed by .NET (5%), .ORG (3.9%) and .XYZ (2.9%). It can also be noted that 40.4% of these domains have websites with periodically updated content.

Even more rapid growth was shown by domain names using the NFT abbreviation - over the same period of time, their number increased by 500% at once. The picture with their geographical distribution is largely similar: 62.1% of all registrations are in the United States, 26.7% - in Europe, 9.8% - in Asia. True, the percentage of domains on which there are updated sites is somewhat lower in this case - 31.3%. The share of the common top-level domain .COM is also lower - 56.7% of such names are registered in it. Interestingly, in second place is the national domain of Germany .DE, which accounts for 6.2% of registrations.
