The Escrow.com service, which provides secure deposit services for transactions, has published a report for the first half of this year. Its services are actively used by sellers and buyers of domain names, and therefore its statistics are important for understanding the situation on the domain market. According to The Domains, citing a report by Escrow.com, in 6 months of 2022, deals with domain names were concluded through the service for a total of $255 million.
At the same time, in the Q1 the total amount of transactions amounted to $130 million, in the second it decreased to $125 million. Nevertheless, the Q2 of this year was already the sixth in a row, during which the amount of domain transactions exceeded $100 million - an indicator of the high activity of the market in the last year and a half. This year alone, for example, deals were made to sell NFT.com for $15 million or Connect.com for $10 million. Both of them went through Escrow.com and may not even be the largest, but the service is bound by non-disclosure obligations and cannot publish information about transactions without the consent of their participants.
If we talk about open statistics, then the highest growth in the first half of the year was demonstrated by domain names of six characters. In the Q1, the median amount of transactions with such names was only $774.45. And in the second quarter, it immediately rose to $6,900.
