SNE.com expires closes at $63,499

The auction for the SNE.com domain name has ended on the GoDaddy marketplace. Its previous owner did not take care of the timely renewal of the registration, and the domain was deleted, then it became again available to everyone. Interestingly, this is not the first time such an unenviable fate befalls this domain name. In 2012, under exactly the same circumstances, it was put up for auction on the same GoDaddy site and sold for $25,005.

Since then, prices for domain names have risen markedly, and now the winner of the auction has purchased the domain for $63,499. TLD Investors, reporting this, notes that the domain name can be claimed by many companies. The abbreviation SNE has many possible decodings, including, for example, Sony Network Entertainment.

In general, three-letter domain names in the .COM zone are an extremely valuable asset, and cases when the owners for some reason do not renew their registration are very rare. It is all the more surprising to learn that this is the second such case in just a week. Previously, the Vey.com domain, registered back in 1997, was put up for auction on DropCatch and sold for $48,250.
