GoDaddy to purchase Dan.com

The world's largest domain registrar – GoDaddy – has announced the appropriation of the well-known domain trading platform Dan.com. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the event has already caused a very strong reaction among domain business professionals.

And the reaction is mostly negative. First of all, experts note that the current deal is another step towards consolidation and monopolization of the market. And monopolization, by definition, is detrimental to competition. Domain investors have a more specific reason for dissatisfaction: the Dan.com platform attracted them with a low commission - about 9% of the transaction amount. On the GoDaddy sites, the commission is about 20%, and there is no reason to think that an exception will be made for Dan.com, states the Domain Gang resource, reporting this news. In addition, Dan.com management previously announced plans to create its own registration service, also with very favorable conditions for registrants. Now these plans will almost certainly have to be forgotten.
