.EU reports small growth in Q1 2022

The EURid Registry, which manages the unified national domain of the countries of the European Union .EU, has published its Q1 2022 Progress Report. As of March 31, 2022, 3,724,513 names were registered in the domain zone. This is 174,903 more registrations than in the previous quarter. In percentage terms, the growth was a very modest 0.29%, but the growth itself is already encouraging: for a long time, the .EU domain has shown a decline - mainly due to the loss of British registrants due to the UK's exit from the EU.

It is curious to note that the smallest countries showed the highest growth rates in Q1: Luxembourg (7.4%) is in the first place, Liechtenstein is in the third (2.8%). Between them is Portugal, which showed an increase of 4.5%. The level of renewal of registrations in the domain zone remains stably high - according to the results of Q1, it averaged 83.1%. The Online Domain, reporting this news, also notes that in Q1 2022, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe highly appreciated the work of the EURid registry, calling its activity as an operator of the .EU domain zone “exemplary”. This assessment is based on a survey of 81 registrars. 96% of respondents stated that they are completely satisfied with the services of the EURid Registry.
