GoDaddy officially became the Registry Operator of the .TV ccTLD

GoDaddy has published a press release announcing that the company has officially become the technical operator of the .TV ccTLD. This is the national domain of Tuvalu, a tiny island nation in Polynesia, but it is popular all over the world, especially among streaming service operators. The information that it was GoDaddy who won the next contest for the management of the domain zone, announced by the government of Tuvalu, appeared last year, but the official contract with the country's authorities was signed only now.

It is worth recalling that earlier the functions of the technical operator of the .TV domain zone were performed by Verisign, however, for unknown reasons, the company did not even take part in the last deal. The exact number of domain names currently registered in the .TV domain is unknown, but is estimated at approximately 500,000. GoDaddy has begun work to prepare for their transfer to their technical platform. Currently, the company is already acting as a technical operator for three more national domains - USA (.US), Columbia (.CO) and India (.IN).
