"Popularity rating" of domain zones for the largest NFT projects were compiled

Tyler Mason, Head of Strategic Development of Corporate Domains at GoDaddy, presented a kind of “popularity rating” of domain zones for the largest NFT projects. Using information from the authoritative resource CryptoSlam, he selected 100 of the largest and most popular NFT projects and studied the names in which domain zones are used by their websites. The result turned out to be rather curious.

The first line belongs to the .COM domain, and, of course, this is not surprising. This domain zone is the undisputed leader both in terms of popularity and the degree of trust on the part of both businesses and users. And it would be simply strange if all this did not apply to the NFT sphere. The second place belongs to the .IO domain and this is already more interesting. It is well known that this domain zone, which is formally the national domain of the British Indian Ocean Territories, is traditionally popular with technology - and more recently, cryptocurrency - companies. However, the fact that 26% of all the largest NFT projects chose it is still very impressive.

And it is absolutely surprising that in the third place in the ranking there is a dash. This means that a considerable number of leading cryptocurrency projects do not have their own websites at all, and therefore they do not use any domains. The fourth and fifth places are occupied by the .CO and .XYZ domain zones. The Domain Investing resource, reporting this news, notes that the rating considers only the first hundred NFT projects, while their number is currently estimated at 16,000 and continues to grow. That is why the above information about the use of domain zones is only the tip of the iceberg, not fully reflecting the overall picture.
