SBR.org domain auctioned off for $5,705

Just another auction of domain names, whose registration was not renewed by the previous owners, has ended on the DropCatch trading platform. Noteworthy is the domain name SBR.org, for which the winner of the auction paid $5,705. This is the second result for DropCatch auctions with three-letter .ORG domain names over the past 5 years, only the WCN.org domain was more expensive for $7,559 in 2019. But the main thing is not even that.

Until recently, the SBR.org domain was used for the website of the popular documentary television series Small Business Revolution, which is funded by a large tech company Deluxe. The series encourages the development of small businesses in small American cities and tells the success stories of local businessmen. This TV show has already been out for 6 seasons, it has a good press and audience and was even nominated for an Emmy TV award. So, the buyer of the domain was Deluxe company - the one that had owned the domain previously and, obviously, simply forgot to renew it, according to the Domain Gang resource. $5,705 is probably not a lot of money for a large company, but it could have been put to a much more reasonable use if it had even occurred to someone to renew the domain name registration in time.
