The Non-Profit Public Organization DotAsia, which is the registry operator for the TLD .ASIA, held its regular elections to the Board. Leonid Todorov, the General Manager of the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association (APTLD), who has been a member of the Russian Internet Governance Forum organizing committee for many years, is among the elected members. He is a well-known expert in the field of Internet Governance and the development of new TLDs. Leonid Todorov has also contributed to the successful launch of the Russian national Cyrillic domain .РФ and new top-level domains .ДЕТИ and .TATAR.
“It is a great honor for me to become a member of the DotAsia Board. I hope I can be helpful to the development of the DotAsia community. I have been a General Manager of APTLD for 7 years and I would be happy to share my corporate governance knowledge with colleagues. I also hope that my participation in the launch of the Russian Cyrillic .РФ domain and gained experience would contribute to the further development of the .ASIA domain, which is going through hard times today. I am sure that the joint work of all members of the Management Board will bear fruit,” said Leonid Todorov.
The TLD .ASIA was created in 2007. DotAsia Organization, the advisory council of which includes representatives of the domain zones of the countries of the region, was created to manage this domain. All proceeds from the project, minus operating expenses, go to the development of the telecommunications industry in Asian countries - reducing the technological gap between poor and rich countries, educational programs in the field of high technologies. Particular attention is paid to pan-Asian projects.
The Asia Pacific Top Level Domains Association (APTLD) is an association of national registries in the Asian region. APTLD operates as a forum for the exchange of information relating to the technological and operational issues of domain name registration. APTLD represents the interests of national registries in the region in interaction with international organizations that coordinate the use and development of the Internet, as well as in global Internet policy development processes. The Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ has been a member of APTLD since 2010.
