ccNSO Council candidates answer community questions

On October 26, the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) held a Q&A with ccNSO Council candidates at ICANN 72. During the meeting, the candidates were able to interact with ccNSO members and the ccTLD public and answer the participants’ questions. The session was moderated by Deputy Director of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ Irina Danelia.

The three-year term of five ccNSO Council members expires in March 2022. The ccNSO announced a call for nominations to fill these seats, and the Council nomination deadline closed on October 6. All candidates who accepted their nomination were invited to participate in the Q&A session.

The following ccNSO Council candidates were nominated and seconded:

  • Africa – Biyi Oladipo;
  • Europe – Nick Wenban-Smith;
  • Latin America and the Caribbean – Demi Getshko;
  • North America – Pablo Rodriguez;
  • Asian-Pacific Region – Anil Kumar Jain and Jordan Carter.

It is noteworthy that four out of the five regions nominated one person each to the council while the Asian-Pacific Region nominated two. Both of the candidates have clearly formulated their position on a number of important issues related to the ccNSO activities, so it is not yet known whom the regional community will choose for the next term.
