The organizers of the NamesCon Global conference announced its postponement. NamesCon, one of the largest and most important events for investors and domain business professionals, traditionally takes place at the very beginning of the year. It includes a domain name auction featuring highly valuable domains: purchases made at this auction are consistently among the largest domain deals of the year.
NamesCon Global was last held in its usual format in January 2020 in Austin, Texas. This year, the event was canceled due to the pandemic, but many expected that by early next year, the coronavirus would surely be defeated. NamesCon Global 2022 would take place as expected in January, and domain market specialists would finally be able to meet in person and exchange experience and views on the development of the industry.
Unfortunately, these expectations turned out to be too optimistic. According to Domain Investing, the organizers of NamesCon Global stated that the COVID-19 situation does not allow them to properly plan for an in-person meeting in January 2022. At the same time, there is no talk of canceling NamesCon Global next year – it is believed that the conference can still be held "in late spring." The organizers also confirmed that the NamesCon Online conference will take place on September 22-24 this year.
