.CLUB has extremely positive start to the year

The new gTLD .CLUB has been on a tear, according to the enthusiastic Twitter posts by the founder of the .CLUB registry, Colin Campbell. A week ago he said that in just one day, the domain saw 7,401 new registrations worth a total of $75,000. On January 1-17, the number of registrations in the .CLUB domain zone grew 92 percent compared to the same period previous year, while premium registrations were up 737 percent compared to the same time last year, according to Domain Name Wire. Although some of the premium registrations are fairly inexpensive and cost about $20, the total result is more than spectacular.

This sudden surge is being driven by the growing popularity of the new social network CLUBHOUSE. It is a social media platform whose users can talk to each other in virtual chat rooms – or clubs – for instance, history club, designers club, etc. Apparently many users also take the opportunity to register a relevant name in .CLUB related to their clubs. At the same time, the CLUBHOUSE app is only available for iOS, and registration is invitation-only. It seems likely that as this new social platform develops, its audience will grow and support .CLUB’s positive trend.
