An auction closed at GoDaddy where iCinema.com was auctioned. At the peak of the fashion for i-brands nine years ago, the domain was bought by Transmedia Communications SA (Switzerland) for the impressive sum of $50,000. However, the company could not put it to good use. For almost four years it simply lay dormant and then a website was launched there selling DVDs and Blu-rays with movies, and their popularity had begun to dwindle by that time.
The registration was not prolonged and GoDaddy auctioned it. The results show the fashion for i-brands is also becoming a thing of the past: over the nine years, the price of the domain fell to a fifth of its previous level. Nevertheless, the $10,001 paid by the new owner is still quite a large sum.
