The National Arbitration Forum has issued a ruling on a complaint over grinch.shop filed by Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P., the company that owns the rights to the creative legacy of Dr. Seuss (Theodore Seuss Geisel), a popular American poet and artist. Dr. Seuss is considered the world's most popular English-speaking author for kids and has created many characters beloved by children, including the famous Grinch, the Christmas Thief.
The Grinch, however, happens to be well loved by many people besides children. Domain names that include the name Grinch are registered from time to time. So Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. decided to sort it out and has been vigorously fighting any such infringements over the past 12 months. The company has won cybersquatting disputes against the owners of SaveTheGrinch.com, ElGrinch.com, Grinch.store, Grinch.black, Grinch.website, Grinch.live, Grinch.fun and Grinchcr.com, according to Domain Name Wire. The grinch.shop domain was no exception. After reviewing the complaint filed under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (the UDRP Policy), the National Arbitration Forum panelist Nicholas Smith ruled the domain name management rights be transferred to Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P.
