The Domains reported on the curious, albeit sad, history of the domain name EveryTeam.com. The domain was registered in August 2002, and two years later, it was announced that EveryTeam.com would house the world's first social network for sports fans.
However, the new social network failed to compete with Facebook and other social media giants, and the project died before long. EveryTeam.com reemerged in 2012, as a website selling uniforms and merchandise of various sports teams. The domain name matched the site's activity almost perfectly, but again it did not bring good luck: the business soon closed. In 2018, EveryTeam.com made headlines again as it was sold for quite an impressive $35,000. The buyer was a tech startup which, however, had nothing to do with sports. The startup wanted to create a site that would serve as an online library of documents and data used by all employees of various companies. The idea sounded very vague, but the startup managed to raise $3 million in initial investment.
Still, the project never launched. Several days ago, it was reported that EveryTeam.com had expired, as no one bothered to renew the registration of the $35,000 domain name. As a result, the DropCatch service promptly picked up the domain for $1,216 and will put it up for auction. But perhaps potential buyers should think twice before dealing with such an unlucky domain?
