ICANN to reimburse community members up to $60 each

ICANN has approved a Pandemic Internet Access Reimbursement Program Pilot for regular participants of its conferences. As is known, ICANN paid for the flights and hotel stays of key community members who regularly participate in corporation meetings held three times a year. This year, all three meetings have gone virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This move has saved ICANN about $8 million, and its management decided to put part of this money toward reimbursing expenses related to participating in the online conferences, that is for internet payments.

Regular meeting participants can apply for a reimbursement before October 2. ICANN 69, this year’s third meeting, will be held on October 17 through 22. (Originally it was planned to be held in Hamburg). The maximum reimbursement amount is $60, which will be paid out in November. ICANN has allocated a total of $51,000 for this purpose, Domain Incite reports.
