One.com of Denmark confirms the use of the pandemic for the domains sector

Danish company One.com reported its first quarter results. Like many other domain name registrars and registries, it stated that the COVID-19 pandemic had encouraged the growth of registrations substantially. One.com is a major registrar operating all over Europe, especially in the Nordic countries. According to its statistics, the number of newly registered domain names during quarantine restrictions in Denmark went up 55 percent over the same period last year. This figure is especially telling when compared to its information on Sweden, where no restrictions were imposed: registrations there grew by only 7 percent.

At the same time Domain Incite reported that One.com had acquired one of its competitors Larsen Data operated as the brand GratisDNS. This merger has made One.com the largest domain name registrar in the Danish .DK space. Now it controls over 400,000 of the 1.3 million names registered in .DK.
