The Domain Name Journal published a list of the largest domain sales in the first half of April. It shows the usual dominance of the gTLD .COM, which accounted for eight of the 10 largest transactions. In early March, the situation was the exact opposite for a while: the top 10 included only two names in .COM, with national ccTLDs, .ORG and .NET in the leading positions. Now .COM is “taking revenge.”
Therapists.com, sold for $91,183, topped the list. Cappuccino.com and Searcher.com went for $49,000 and $40,000, respectively. Only the German ccTLD, .DE, managed to break the .COM hegemony in the top ten. It scored two big sales: UHR.de was purchased for €70,000 ($76,300 at the exchange rate at the time of purchase, coming second in the list), and WI.de was sold for €29,750 ($32,428, fifth place).
