XYZ to launch five new domains this year

Today new domains are going through difficult times. After a spike of popularity at the launch of ICANN’s new gTLD program their attraction has diminished significantly. The prolongation dynamics gives no reason for joy either. ICANN lowers the forecasted income to the budget from new domain zones. In a situation like this, a lot of confidence is necessary to launch new domains: the confidence XYZ.com shows. The company announced that it will launch five new gTLDs in 2020.

To date, only one is known for sure: .QUEST. It was reported earlier on that XYZ.com acquired last November from Hong Kong company QNet, which planned to use it as a dot-brand name, but the plans were never realized. Domain Name Wire cites XYZ.com’s message writing that everybody will be able to register domain names in this zone. “Knowledgeable businesses, organizations, and individuals can use .QUEST to point out their website as the leading destination for their audience.”

There is no information about the four other domains so far, but the company has a history of acquiring domains from companies that registered them as dot-brands and then repurposed them as generic domains. For example, XYZ.com acquired .MONSTER from a headhunting company that decided to stay at Monster.com.
