The world’s largest domain registrar, GoDaddy, has published a report that shows that the company has closed the gender pay gap. Moreover, women who work at GoDaddy in technical positions make slightly more money than men: $1.03 for every $1 men make. Women in leadership positions make two cents more than men.

However, women in non-technical and non-leadership jobs make one cent less than the men. GoDaddy concluded that in 2019, the company in general was paying men and women at parity across the company, when comparing men and women in similar roles. At the same time, only 17% of tech employees are women, and this percentage has dropped by two points in the past year. Overall, GoDaddy’s US offices employ 30% women and 70% men. Domain Incite notes that this proportion is probably specific to the domain industry in general: according to statistics, 70% of the participants in ICANN meetings are men.

Gender equality issues have recently come into the focus of Western society. GoDaddy began addressing with them even earlier than others: the registrar started publishing this data five years ago. The thing is that in its early years, the company, which was founded in 1997, featured busty girls in skimpy clothing in their ads. In the US, they even had a name for them, GoDaddy Girls. This resulted in numerous accusations of sexism, and now the company is trying to improve its image, first of all, in the eyes of the feminist community.
