The American corporation Honeywell no longer wishes to operate its dot-brand domain and has informed ICANN of this decision. Honeywell is a major industrial conglomerate producing equipment and control systems for the aerospace industry, construction and other sectors of the economy. The company has about 130,000 employees with reported revenue of $40.5 billion for 2018. Therefore, supporting the domain could hardly pose a financial challenge for the conglomerate. A more likely explanation is that the company failed to find a use for the domain.
Since the delegation of .HONEYWELL in 2016, no names have been registered in the domain apart from the obligatory nic.honeywell, Domain Incite reports. It’s the first new gTLD termination request of 2019. In all, the number of abandoned domains now stands at 46, most of which are dot-brand domains.
