Donuts to be bought by private equity firm

Domain Incite reports that Donuts, the company that manages the most new gTLDs, will be acquired by Abry Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm. It has invested more than $77 billion in over 650 projects since 1989. It is noteworthy that former ICANN chief Fadi Chehade is a partner atAbry. He headed ICANN in 2012–2015 and straight after that joined Abry Partners as senior advisor on digital strategy.

Donuts was founded by domain business veterans Paul Stahura, Jon Nevett, Richard Tindal and Daniel Schindler. It currently runs over 200 new gTLDs, the most populous being .ltd, with over 400,000 domain names. The cost of the deal has not been disclosed to the public.
