Allstate drops its brand domain name

Allstate, which is a leading insurance company in the US, has notified ICANN it was not going to run the .goodhands TLD delegated to it earlier as part of the “Are you in good hands?” advertising campaign. Allstate planned to use .goodhands as a closed dot-brand for its own needs. As the company’s income last year accounted for about $38.5 billion, financial difficulties were surely not the reason to drop the domain name. Most likely the company felt there was simply no need to hang on to the domain.

According to Domain Incite, Allstate still keeps another TLD, .allstate, with several domains registered in it that redirect to its primary .com site. .goodhands is the ninth dot-brand to self-terminate this year and the 37th in total.
