PeopleBrowsr announced the sale of its .BEST TLD, according to Online Domain. The cost of the deal is unknown, but it has already been approved by ICANN. It is noteworthy that PeopleBrowsr failed to make the domain popular: .BEST has fewer than 2,500 domains registered.
Perhaps the new owner – The Best SAS – will manage to turn that around. The acquisition is part of the company’s big plans, which include creating “a decentralized search optimized social network.” Registrants are supposed to create websites where participants will review best in class products and services (thus creating wordplay with the domain name). The most active users will be rewarded with .BEST cryptocurrency that the company also plans to create.
The Best SAS’s headquarters is located in Paris. It is the first and only French company to own a new Generic Top Level Domain. Its president Cyril Fremont began his carrier in Silicon Valley and has more than 20 years of experience in the successful development and launch of internet projects.
