Tata Motors fails to pay ICANN fees

ICANN has sent an official notification about the breach of contract to the Indian car-making company Tata Motors, according to Domain Incite. The company runs .tatamotors as a dot-brand gTLD. It cannot be said that it is used actively, but there still are several domain names registered and the company tries to apply it somehow, which is better than many dot-brand TLDs.

In this sense, it is even more surprising that Tata Motors hasn’t been paying its $6,250 quarterly registry fee. It is unlikely that the giant has not got the money to pay, because the company’s turnover is estimated at $44 billion a year. This is the second such notification this year that ICANN has sent so far. The first one was also addressed to a company without any obvious financial difficulties. It had been reported earlier that the Kuwaiti bank Kuwait Finance House had been notified it was late paying its fees.
