Sherman Hopkins Jr. from Iowa, US, will head to prison for 20 years. Last June, he broke into a man’s home with a handgun. This is not an unusual crime, but what’s bizarre was his motive. Hopkins demanded that the resident transfer rights to the domain name DoItForState.com to him. According to Domain Name Wire, citing the Associated Press, Hopkins fired a shot and used a stun gun.
But the house owner managed to protect himself (and his domain). He engaged in a struggle with the robber and grabbed his handgun. Domain names are stolen quite often, in fact. But an armed domain robbery is definitely something new.
