Betting domains are gaining popularity

In early May, the US Supreme Court passed a decision legalizing bookmakers and playing sports betting. For a long time, this business remained banned in most of the US states because of fear that it could be controlled by organized criminal groups and used to launder money. Now each state will independently decide whether the bookmaker business will be legalized directly on its territory, but the domain investors did not wait that long.

According to Domain Name Wire, Verisign has published its monthly list of most popular words used in new domain names in the .COM zone (as usual, it is not about absolute numbers, but about the largest growth compared to the previous month). Six words from the May top ten were directly related to sports betting. They are ‘sports,’ ‘bet,’ ‘bets,’ ‘betting,’ ‘gambling’ and ‘bookie’ (slang for ‘bookmaker’). ‘Sports’ and ‘betting’ were listed first and second in the rating.
