.EU domain shows growth for the first time in three years

The EURid registry, which manages the pan-European domain .EU, has published its report for 2017. The document says that the number of registered .EU domain names at the end of 2017 was 3,815,055. This is 52,085 domain names more than in 2016. Thus, .EU has shown growth for the first time in three years: in 2015 and 2016, the number of registered domain names was gradually decreasing.

Another good indicator is the growth in the number of registration renewals: 81.9 percent. The number of domains protected by DNSSEC has also increased, from 348,401 to 443,600. The top 3 countries in terms of the number of .EU domains, remain the same as the previous year: Germany (1,013,784 domain names), the Netherlands (502,462) and France (346,301). Austria, Bulgaria, Iceland, Lichtenstein and Portugal showed the highest growth in the number of new registrations.
