Verisign has published in its blog a list of 10 most popular words used in domain names that were registered in .COM and .NET last month. Domain .COM, as always, was a sensitive barometer of the most popular world trends. This time in the domain names registered we can see a reflection of continuing growth in the exchange value of crypto currencies (especially – bitcoin) and unbelievable upsurge of fidget-spinners popularity. Therefore, words “coin”, “fidget”, “crypto”, “rate” and “spinner” are on the places from first to fifth on the list.
Interestingly, registrants of .NET domain were not as “advanced”. In its top ten words for May from the five words mentioned before there is only one – coin – and only on sixth place. We remind that Verisign chooses the words that showed the most dramatic growth in usage compared to previous month and not the most often used words.
