New York tech domains didn’t stir buyers’ interest

Neustar registry conducted a third themed domain name auction in the New York domain .NYC that it operates. First two auctions were fashion and real estate themed. The third one was dedicated to “technology”; and observers consider its results to be quite disappointing.

18 domain names were sold during the auction for the total amount of $28,872, reports Domain Name Wire. Web.nyc led the auction; it was sold for $8,638. Experts estimate even this amount as considerably modest. The results of many other potentially promising names are, frankly speaking, perplexing. For example, domain webdesign.nyc was sold for $550, wireless.nyc – for $500.

For comparison, two previous auctions attracted much more interest from investors. For example, just the leader of the fashion auction was sold for a higher amount than all of the tech auction domains: fashion.nyc was sold for $37 thousand.
