New gTLDs are half Chinese

China shows the highest interest in registration of domain names in new gTLDs. The Domains reported this information quoting ntldstats.com. According to this data, 48% of all names in new gTLDs belong to registrants from China. Moreover, the number could actually be significantly higher: around 23% of all names are registered using a privacy service in Whois, which hides registrant's personal data. In the list of the countries most interested in the new domains China is followed by the United States, its share is 10.5% of all registered names. Germany is on the third place; however, its share is relatively small – only 2%.

Nine of the ten largest registrants, as it is easy to guess, are also Chinese. Ten major registrants own over 3.2 million names registered in the new generic top-level domains, which is over 11% from the total number of registrations.
