GoDaddy earned over US$1 billion from selling domain names

GoDaddy, which is the largest domain name registrar in the world, presented its financial report for the IV quarter of 2016 and the whole past year in general. Total annual revenue amounted to US$1.85 billion, an increase of 15% compared to 2015. Nevertheless, net loss in 2016 was US$21.9 million dollars. However, the year before net loss amounted to US$120.4 million, which allows being more optimistic about company's future.

GoDaddy's success in the main segment of its business – registration of domain names – deserves a special note. Last year company's revenue in this sector increased by 11% and amounted to US$927.8 million according to the report. However, in reality this sum turned out to be even higher, says CEO of GoDaddy Blake Irving. Financial statements do not take into account paying for booking the domains, registration of which took place later on. If these sums are taken into account as well, then the revenue from domain names' registration for the first time has exceeded US$1 billion, reports Domain Incite.
